It is quite an important product. The work of primer is to keep makeup in place, it smoothens fine lines, also helps as it even out skin tone, with best quality that is it also minimize pores. Primers main function is to prime & prep the skin for makeup which results in helping foundation to stay in place & make you look your best. Many primers also hydrate & nourish skin, which creates flawless base for makeup. It also helps makeup last longer, you must have seen many girls doing touch-up every few hours but due to primer mid-day touch-up is not required. Primer helps reduce oiliness on the face so it is easy to put rest of the makeup which also gives smoother texture. Primer is a part of skin prep now which includes a process called CTM- cleaning, toner, moisturizer.

Primer should be applied in a certain way, first we will apply moisturizer before primer which will soften the skin, next take pea-sized amount primer, and try not to take excess amount you will not be able to bland it properly. The best way is to apply thin even layer and try to use hands as it will make it easy to apply, apply from nose to cheek, chin & forehead. Give your primer some time to set, after the primer continue with foundation.

There are many brands of primers we just have to choose the right one for us. The question is how to choose, so here are two easy steps:

STEP 1

Most important is to know your skin type which will help you while deciding your primer. You should understand your skin type whether it is dry, oily, combination of both or sensitive.

STEP 2

Next is to consider the skin concerns that are if you have any skin issues you want to take care of? What is the issue you are facing; do you want to hydrate the dry skin? Or do you have sensitive skin or not? And after you have decided then choose your primer according to your skin.

There are many types of primer so it is important to know which primer to use on which type of skin:

DRY SKIN: – This type of skin needs hydration so that the makeup can be absorbed by skin, for that we will choose hydrating primer, water base primer. Make sure there are particular ingredients like glycerine, benzoic acid, vitamin A which will help your dry skin, also seek for dewy or luminous finish in a primer.

OILY SKIN: -while using primer on oily skin we have to see that it doesn’t make our face look greasier so for that we will use water base primer with ingredients hyaluronic acid, vitamin B & C. You can also know about Oily Skin Foundation.

COMBINATION SKIN: -this type of skin is quite tough as on this skin some parts are oily and some are dry so for this type of skin either a primer which balances both oily & dry skin, so use lightweight formula. More than one primer can be needed for example the part of oily zones use metrifying primer & for drier areas use hydrating primer. Make sure to avoid heavy or metrifying product.

ACNE PRONE SKIN: – we use primer so that the foundation can be used properly so to hide acne we will use heavy silicon base primer to even out skin. It will make the application of foundation easy and flawless.

MATURE SKIN: -this type of skin is hard and dehydrated with several aging marks so we will use lightweight silicone-base primer to fill fine line, with ingredients such as hydroxyl acid/ dimethazone/ bark extract

All these types of skin have one similar problem that is pores. There are many people who constantly struggle with open pores and because of which makeup look cakey, so those who want to reduce pores use ingredients like vitamins A& E to blur & smooth pores. This will hide your pores and make your skin look flawless.
